Our Honeymoon- Tofino!

The last stop on our 3 week roadtrip was Tofino, BC- it is a gorgeous little town on the island, and quite pricey, but everyone said it was a must-see so we decided to make it the big splurge of our trip. We rented a car in Victoria and drove the 4.5 hours to get there through beautiful forests and winding mountain roads.

On the way, we stopped at Cathedral Grove for a short hike through a beautiful ancient forest. Totally recommend! Then finally we made it to Tofino and checked in at our hotel- the Ocean Village Resort, which is actually a bunch of cabins on the beach. It was the nicest spot and I couldn't recommend it more to anyone! It was on Mackenzie beach, and was great for stand up paddle boarding and exploring tidal pools. They also surprised us with a lovely bottle of wine, since it was out honeymoon :)

We absolutely loved Tofino! The mornings were cool and foggy and the afternoons were sunny and warm. We explored the different beaches, hiked a bunch of trails, ate amazing food (seriously, every restaurant there seemed to be 5 stars on google), and relaxed. One day we rented stand up paddle boards from our resort and spent a couple of hours trying not to fall in. I only fell in once! It is much harder than it looks!

We had 4 nights and 3 full days there so we decided to do one "special activity" on this part of the trip. I told Cam I would be down for whale watching, a hot springs excursion, or a surfing lesson. Without hesitation he wanted surfing so we signed up for a lesson! It was SO MUCH FUN. Neither of us had surfed before, and admittedly neither of us actually managed to surf during our lesson (I saw Cam get us for a few seconds once, I never did!). But we both really enjoyed trying because it was a lot of fun to ride in on a wave on the board and to take a spectacular spill! We will definitely try to again one day.

After Tofino we drove back to Victoria to return our rental car, and ventured back to Vancouver to catch our flight home (my one regret when booking this trip was not thinking to book our return flight out of Victoria- oh well).

We absolutely had a blast on the honeymoon. It was the trip of a lifetime and we agreed that we should try to recreate it for our 25th wedding anniversary!
