Map Gallery Wall Update!

One of my first posts on this blog was putting up my gallery wall of travel maps in the hallway. I love to travel and I love to collect the maps that I used to get around all those cities. I decided last year to start framing the maps and putting them on display in my home- it also takes care of the problem of filling up a 15 foot wall in a skinny hallway. I wish I had thought of this project from the beginning of my traveling days since I had to buy or print off some maps to make up the collection.

Sorry for the dark, skewed photos- my hallway (from the front door to the main condo space) is evil to photograph. Even with my wide angle lens I couldn't get the whole thing in one frame without angling it!! And the camera just refuses to pick up light down there- even if I crank the ISO.

Anywho! When I went to Mexico City last year I added in that map by kicking out a map that wasn't really relevant (it was a theme park map). And I went to Boston this summer so I decided to pick up two more frames and build on the existing gallery. I decided to only include cities that I explored in this collection- so even though I have also been to Jamaica and Dominican Republic, I have not included those on the wall. My walls- my rules :)

Since I had a spare frame now, and no trips planned in the near future (sadface), I decided to make a little placeholder!

I don't think I have had one new guest come to the condo who hasn't tried to figure out what all the cities in the maps are. And since only a couple of maps explicitly state the city it can be pretty challenging! So I made a little key for people to try an match up- and they are in no particular order!

Can you guess the city?

I did my best to get the images as big and clear as possible- good luck!

I'd play your guessing game but it is only 10am and I am already exhausted from work stuff. I have to save my brain power.

  7. What a great idea! Actually, I've never thought about it but city travel maps are often really well done with lots of the sights included. Great memories!

  9. There is just no way I could do this. I am so terrible at Geography I still remember back in Gr 8 completely messing up an island in front of the class. Mind you I am very good at reading actual maps on never ending road trips.
